What NOT to write!

with 8 comments

Penning down a post is always difficult. You have so much to write but so little time and so little space. You never get out of ideas, but you do not know what to write… or rather what not to write. Things are much more complicated than what I feel. And the complication starts not from the inborn desire to write but from the inborn inability to extract the suitable material and transform it into writing. Never before had I felt such jolts of energy trying to escape my fingers and find their way into the blog like the eternal volcano which was ever growling but was never a big visitor spot.  Things go round and round– in search of a perfect topic to write, a perfect beginning to the so called blogged-side of my persona… but alas, even in this vast sea of data, I cannot find out even some information which can represent my thoughts loud enough. Loud, did I say loud. This reminds me of Read the rest of this entry »

A newborn unborn.

My first 55 Fiction:

Inside the O.T. and forcing her mind off the pain, she tried to mentally celebrate the birth of the newborn.  A sudden glance at her husband and the doctor frames wiped off her smiles. Both hung their head low. Celebrations stopped. Titling her head to one side, she started weeping.

Far from the madding crowd…

After some 16 years, we made a short trip away from the daily chores of  our household. A short trip indeed – 3 days only – but no doubt one of the most soothing and charming journeys ever. It was quite a trip with no proper planning at all – not knowing how to go where we should be heading next.
We started off from Kolkata on the 31st morning for Maithon – one of the most beautiful and calming place I had ever seen. Maithon, located on the banks of river Barakar, is the home of one of the most successful projects of India and  the Damodar Valley Corporation’s first successful one. The chilling cold splash of waves against the rocks, the shivery pinching of the cold winds against our faces and the beautiful scenery – it all made for a perfect way Read the rest of this entry »

A story about my friend…

with one comment

This time around I would not give a lecture on what is right or what is wrong, nor bore you with intellectual thoughts. I am going to tell you a true story – that of a close friend of mine (let’s call him ABC, though it hardly matters).

Well, let me start of by saying that he is one of my closest friends of mine and hence you can expect me to know much about him (if not all). He comes from a very humble background, and has been struggling very much right from his childhood. In this world of luxuries, he lived modestly, never asking for more than what he got, never even dreaming about more than his studies and immediate surroundings, never expecting toys or story books, and never going out with friends for fear of spending too much. One thing that he did was sit down with his books, look outside the window occasionally to have a glimpse of the outside world and then back into his world of studies. My friends – do not misunderstand me – he was not ‘padhakoo’ as you may be thinking, it’s just that his only way to escape from this constrained environment was through his books. He found science very interesting and mathematics too. He did not like literature or social sciences. Read the rest of this entry »
