Let Me Rediscover You!

with 2 comments

Lady Love

Veil not your frozen tears,
Behind the solemn eyes.
Veil not your lush beauty,
Behind the cheap mascara.
Veil not your rosy lips,
Behind the feigned smile.
Veil not your palping breath,
Behind the tutored stance.

Come, as you are, onto me,
For I judge not you.
Shred the mantle, blind
Let me rediscover you.

Wings of Fire

with one comment

As my readers have noticed, I like to, from time to time, pick up certain quotes from books I have read or am currently reading. This time its “Wings of Fire” – An autobiography of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. It is a record of an amazing journey of Abdul Kalam from a very humble village to the highest and most respected position in the country.

APJ Abdul Kalam

Following are some of the passages from the book that has moved me:

We are all born with a divine fire in us
Our efforts should be to give wings to this fire
and fill the world with the glow of its goodness

The best way to win was to not need to win. The best performances are accomplished when you are relaxed and free of doubt.

I have always been a religious person in the sense that I maintain a working partnership with God. I was aware that the best work required more ability than I possessed and therefore I needed help that only God could give me. I made a true estimate of my own ability, then raised it by 50 per cent and put myself in God’s hands. In this partnership, I have always received all the power I needed, and in fact have actually felt it flowing through me. Today, I can affirm that the kingdom of God is within you in the form of this power, to help achieve your goals and realise your dreams.

The trouble is that we often merely analyse life instead of dealing with it. People dissect their failures for causes and effects, but seldom deal with them and gain experience to master them and thereby avoid their recurrence. This is my belief: that through difficulties and problems God gives us the opportunity to grow. So when your hopes and dreams and goals are dashed, search among the wreckage, you may find a golden opportunity hidden in the ruins.

Life is a difficult game. You can win it only by retaining your birthright to be a person. And to retain this right, you will have to be willing to take the social or external risks involved in ignoring pressures to do things the way others say they should be done.

Dasvidaniya and other films

with 7 comments

It’s probably the fifth time that I watched Dasvidaniya, and the film still managed to retain its charm and simplicity. Everytime I watch the film, it strikes the same chord again and again. Some films are never made to go old. And, it’s all because of one person – Vinay Pathak, managing to take care of each and every minute details, just the right expressions, the right twitching of the eyes, and the right voice modulations. But, I will, in this post, not do a movie review. I have some other issues to lay down.

Consider the following films:

  • Dasvidaniya
  • Munnabhai MBBS
  • Lage raho Munnabhai
  • Taare Zameen Par
  • 3 Idiots
  • Swadesh

What do all this films have Read the rest of this entry »

Questions?

with 3 comments

Man vs God – This has been one topic which has poked me all throughout. Questions have often engulfed me to the point of dizziness. Which of the two is a reality and which one is fantasy. “Who is God?” Or rather, “what is God?” – is it just a name or a symbol or a idol out of mud and clay? Is it the manifestation of inner power of human beings? Is it simply an object to boost courage during hardship and nothing else? God never seems so real. It’s an identity created out of the inherent weakness in man. It’s born out of the insecurities in and of man. Man has created God and not the contrary. And that’s what has given God so much power. It’s a lion in a pack of sheep. The lion does not exist if there is no sheep. We are but meek creatures given into all kinds of idolatry, without ever looking inwards. Look what strength we have. Look at Swamiji’s teachings.

You are lions; you are the soul, pure, infinite, and perfect. The might of the universe is within you. “Why weepest thou, my friend? There is neither birth nor death for thee. Why weepest thou? There is no disease or misery for thee. Thou art like the infinite sky: clouds of various colors come over it, play for a moment, then vanish; but the sky is ever the same eternal blue.
